Dom Pérignon Vintage Champagne 2004, 75cl
A ‘wow’ wine, this is absolutely singing. 2004 Dom Pérignon provides a wonderfully vivid and rich sensory experience: from the nose-filling aromas, all the way to the huge finish. A cacophony of scents: smoke, spices, saffron, sweet yellow pepper, mustard seed and rainwater. Very impressive that it should be so vibrant at such a young age. The palate is creamy and dense, yet fresh and precise, with a composed, smooth mousse. The finish is majestic, with earthy, Meursault-like flavours, mineral and charcoal. This is stunning. • A truly great vintage of Dom Pérignon - 96/100 Points, Wine & Spirits Magazine, 95/100 Points - Wine Spectator. Drinking well now, but will last through 2024 Floral softness to the gritty minerality that typically charactrises Dom Pérignon champagnes. Expressions of candied fruit, plant life and exquisite leaf freshness. Plunges into darkness, spices and liquorice root. This wine has a physical presence. It is striking and demanding, tactile and vibrant rather than aromatic. It is built on rhythm and rupture more than harmony. After an initial cloud of softness, we hit a mineralised verticality that gradually opens out to suggest a bitter, iodised and saline nobility.
