Dom Pérignon Brut Rosé 1996 Champagne 75cl

£599.95

The 1996 is a dazzling rosé champagne from Dom Pérignon. Firm, dry and stuffed with raspberry and strawberry flavours. 1996 was a great year for Dom Pérignon across all the cuvees and it shows here. This is rich and full bodied with a spicy finish, just delightful.

"The 1996 Dom Pérignon Rosé is simply off the charts. What a wine. The 1996 Rose has begun to fill out rather dramatically. Today it is rich, powerful and totally seductive", Antonio Galloni.

ON THE PALATE

In a paradox that typifies the vintage, concentration and movement vie each other with an affirmation of boldness and authority. The tastes progress with strength – tense, radiant and sharp. The finish is firm, underscored with a slightly vanilla-spicy note.

ON THE NOSE

The aroma of malt rapidly leads into well-ripened fruit, nectarine and wild strawberries, complemented by smoky, peaty accents.

THE 1996 HARVEST

The year was full of contrasts and the summer changeable, with the wetter periods never quite making up for the earlier hydric deficit. Eventually, in the month before grape-picking (September 16), it was as much the spells of hot weather as the influence of north-easterly winds that led to the original maturity of the vintage.
