La Grande Dame (Gift Boxed) - Vintage 1998
This amazing Champagne is made up of only the best crus, 64% Pinot Noir grapes and 36% Chardonnay from the Marne valley.
The 1998 has a silky golden colour with jade glints and sparkles, it is crystal clear with supremely fine bubbles. First impressions hint at a typical Chardonnay with the arrival of floral and mineral aromas. A quick swirl reveals a sweet almond toasting and a hint of delicate herbs.
On the palate the wine is clear cut and pure, perfectly balanced with an impressive smooth mousse texture.
As Veuve Clicquot's finest production it gives serious competition to other top end brands such as Dom Perignon and Krug. As good as if not better than the Krug Grande Cuvee.
